The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends establishing a dental home around the child’s first birthday.
At Dr. B’s, we believe in building a strong foundation for your child’s oral health from the very beginning. For children under 3 years old, our goal is to create a nurturing dental home for both you and your little one.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and escorted to our comfortable conference room. Here, we’ll discuss important topics such as infant oral health recommendations and anticipatory guidance tailored to your child’s needs.
Following our discussion, we’ll perform a gentle lap exam designed to ensure your child feels safe and secure. During this exam, your child will sit on your lap, facing you for comfort, as we gently lean them back into the dentist’s lap for their examination. Using a small mirror and explorer, we’ll assess your child’s developing teeth, discuss what to expect as they grow, and answer any questions you may have.
Next, we’ll provide a thorough toothbrush cleaning, floss their teeth, and apply a professional fluoride treatment to protect those precious little smiles. Once the exam is complete, we’ll discuss the next steps and make sure all your questions are answered.
Before leaving, your child will receive a new toothbrush and a fun, age-appropriate toy to take home. You’ll then schedule your six-month follow-up at the checkout desk and leave our office with the tools and confidence to care for your child’s developing smile.
